Aunt Leah's Trivia Night Blues: Saturday, October 18th!

To love is to receive a glimpse of heaven. -Karen Sunde, playwright

Hi Lads! Trust everyone is well. Glad you had a grand time in Nova Scotia, Glasgow. Too, too bad that you hadn't mentioned that you were going to attend Celtic Colours as very close friend, Rhoda Maccormick, was one of the chief organizers. Her husband, Ron, was Flamin's paddling coach in Dartmouth, when Michele was 13! Rhoda worked for me as a Student Assistant at UBC back in the late '70's and we have stayed in touch ever since. More to tell but will save it for road trip!

With respect to that, I have a number of different options for you two to mull over, as well as a number of non-negotiable commands!

1) NNC: Giorgio is to be at Berkeley BART Station, [Precise one to be determined as soon as I hear back from Cactus. Have confirmed where we are staying in Berkeley, Glasgow. Very kind neighbour, Big Rat, (Barbara's email name!), who lives across the street from Donna Florida and Vincenzo, has kindly offered us her place. Cora Lee and I, along with F/S, stayed there a number of years ago.], by 9:00 am Monday, November 3rd. We will collect him there and then proceed to Calaveras County to wine taste. Will end up spending the night in Jackson.

2) Quasi-NNC: Spend Tuesday, November 4th, working our way north through Amador County and/or El Dorado County with the option of biking, at some point, should that be something you would like to entertain. Night in either Plymouth, (AC) or Placerville, (EDC). Fabulous restaurant, Taste, in Plymouth, as well as good, reasonable accommodation.

3) Options: Wednesday, November, 5th, return to Portland via I-5 , 10 hrs, or via Lake Tahoe, etc., 13 hrs. Latter different countryside, etc. Either way we, I, need to stop back at Oliver Wine Storage Depot so probably better to spend that night somewhere "relatively" close to Portland so that we can return to Vancouver on Thursday, 6th, probably early evening +/-, meeting expressed needs of rather difficult fellow travelers!

Who's in??? Still tables available!!!! Cash bar, snacks and fun!!!

4) Options: Extend #3 to return on Friday, November 7th.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Il Conduttore, soon to be known as Il Commandatore!!!

Hello, Eveyone: I’m sorry to report that Anna Leith died on Thursday morning. Please check the Vancouver Sun Obituaries for details. Anne

Hi Patrick, You had 9 bottles left a box in our cellar.  I selected 6, trying not to duplicate . . Mike dropped them off at the concierge at the MAC yesterday and talked w. your "muleage" man. See you next week. Marilyn

Hello My Darling! Thanks ever so much for being such a conscientious and loyal, (not to mention honest!), wine steward! Not sure which three might be left but if there happens to be a white, (Probably not from what I dimly recall of stash! [No white . . . ]), please pop it in the fridge, at some point, and we can have it upon arrival on the 27th.

Just back from helping Chloë set up for the Trivia Night this evening. A fund raiser for the non-profit organization, Aunt Leah's, she works for. At the Scottish Cultural Centre which is a terrific venue for such an event. We'll head back around 6:45 pm to help with any last minute details. Clan Sutherland is at the table next to ours, (overall, about 28 with six to eight at each table), so should be loads of fun.

Had a lovely evening last night with friends, Julia and Ross, over in West Van. They invited us to stay overnight so that was grand as we didn't have to worry about driving back home over Lions Gate and having a designated driver! Mutual friends, Jane and Kjell were there as well. Kjell just flew into town from Stockholm this past Wednesday. He and Jane have a "long-distance" relationship as she now lives on Vancouver Island, in a beach front cottage near Courtenay, she just recently purchased. She has her condo in North Van on the market.

Fondestos from Cora Lee who is having a cat nap, the better to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for all the trivia questions ahead! Thanks again for all your help. Look forward to catching up in a little more than a week. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Jane and Coriandre; Jane and Ross; Paul, Maria and Cora Lee shortly after everything was set up. snack tables; a lovely carved loon I was planning to bid upon in Silent Auction!
Unsuccessfully, as it turned out!

Hello Teammates! Just back from helping Chloë set up for the Trivia Night this evening.  Thanks again for agreeing to be on our winning, ALL Black team! Look forward to catching up in a little more than an hour or so. Cheers, Patrizzio!
HI Patrick does this mail address still work? Yes I bought the house, my biggest purchase in life so far, Risskov is a fairly expensive area in Aarhus but I manage now my income as a future specialist (no.2 )makes income more predictable and the bank can agree agree on the loan!

The size is okay for boys living here as well as me living here alone when they move out, eventually. just have to make sure to manage the staircase for the next 30 years!

We are especially looking forward to the summer seasons in the garden and terrasse , which is turning South West. Becoming a house owner now put further demands on me: choice of lawn-mover, choice of mail box 'matching' in in the neighborhood, choice of house alarm (after the burglars last Christmas we decided to get an alarm to the new house, mostly preventively as it was very uncomfortable for the boys (and me) to return to the home when burglars had been there) . And all the rest ....!

It sounds very interesting planning trip to India . Where do you think you will be going? I had a wonderful adventure in India in 1990 for five months, but I believe it has changed a lot in many ways - but also leavng a lot of poverty unchanged.

Well it is Saturday morning here, I am still unpacking things, and in need of IKEA furniture, fortunately IKEA is 10 min from here, so just at short trip, really.
All the best for you, send regards back to mrs. Coriandre. XO Margareta

Hi IKEA Woman! Great that you have been able to purchase your home! Congratulations!!! Itinerary for India is still being planned. Cora Lee is in charge so I'll let her tell you what she has in mind. The email still works but here is my current address, <pdunn@xxx>. Other is automatically forwarded.

As I think I already mentioned, had a lovely evening last night. Again, as I mentioned in earlier message, Jane and Kjell were there as well. He and Jane now have an even longer "long-distance" relationship! Buona Fortuna with settling in to your new home! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi again Duhlink! Thanks for update! Perhaps Michaelo has been a closet wine tippler lo these many years! No never mind as Cora Lee ended up with a number of bottles of same from last night's Silent Auction at Trivia Night so I'll purloin them for us!

Had a hoot and it was a great time visiting with many friends, particularly from Chloë's crowd there to support the event. For my part, I was successful bidding on a lovely wooden bowl, turned by a wood carver known to Chloë. Cora Lee had submitted a number of earlier bids but another chap, Tony, managed to outbid her over the course of the evening. I came in as a spoiler near the close of the bidding to take the prize. Had been looking for something for our the 43rd anniversary of our meeting, back in 1971, on Halloween, in a pub, in Winnipeg! I'll be in Berkeley on the 31st so I've arranged with Chloë to deliver the present for me. Coriandre believes Tony was the successful bidder! Cheers, Patrizzio! Hello North Shore People! Thank you, Julia and Ross, or the more than lovely evening and meal! Not to mention the wonderful sleep-over! Even managed to stop to pick up the wine, Babio, at Signature store in Park Royal, and have Coriandre at her Strata meeting on time!

Great to see both of you, Jane and Kjell, of course, as well as meeting Christian, aka Il Commanduttore!
Thanks again to our generous West Van hosts. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
