Pollock Pines Tahoe Keys Black Bear Blues: Wednesday, November 5th!

To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men. -Ella Wheeler Wilcox, poet (1850-1919)

Cycled around part of the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe this morning/early afternoon with Whirlygig and Glasgow. Absolutely wonderful tarmac trail through the pines with views of the lake from a number of the public beaches. Even saw a coyote in an open filed, at one point. Lads had had enough after 30 km or so but I continued on as I wanted to get a better idea of where trail started, closer to the business section of South Lake Tahoe itself.

Never did find out where trail started but I did discover a high end housing complex, Tahoe Keys, with canals that allow owners to have water access. I rode around a few of the streets, ending in cul de sacs, and came upon, much to my utter surprise, two bears, one black, the other brown! Well fed bruins, both, with gleaming coats! With the five deer we saw close to Pollock Pines, leaving El Dorado, quite a day of wildlife viewing!

Hi Robo Man and Big Al! Trust you are both well. Have had some fantastic rides on this trip. On Sunday Glasgow and I rode over the Golden Gate. From Berkeley, over the Golden Gate to Tiburon, (with a little help from BART from Ashby to Embarcadero and from the Blue & Gold Fleet to SF), and back. Glorious, glorious day so who could ask for anything more! Stats for ride:

Pat, It sounds like a very good time with a little debauchery thrown in. Nice to be in some decent weather. Rains have been very heavy here. Travelled to my appointments this evening on the bike as they were all reasonably close but I should have taken the car as I got quite wet. Helped Chris move a week ago in very heavy rain and 3 hours of carting stuff 3 apartments to the east gave me a good workout but a soaking to boot.

Spoke with Jim Brownlee and Jim Crowe recently. James B. was off to Dubaii the next day on his way to Australia where he is staying with mutual friends in Perth before flying to the east coast where he has a time share. Jim Crowe is finishing up his time in Hong Kong before returning to Australia before 2015.
Welcome back to the wet coast on Friday. Ray

Sounds like I missed a good time. Wayne Had a great dinner at a diner just across the way from our motel. Corkage allowed so we were all smiles!
